Serving not for profit organizations is a big part of my passion as an attorney. To listen and brainstorm on the mission and values of an organization, and then set the foundation in place for that organization to thrive, is exciting work.
This might involve putting into place the corporate not for profit entity with the state. Setting up the 501C-3 tax exempt status. Attending to regulatory compliance. Putting together a team of an attorney, an accountant, a banker to serve the client well. Establishing good employment practices.
All of this makes it possible for the organization to focus and go about its work with these essential details, solidly in place. And then once that is in place, to then be an ongoing resource for legal advice and counsel, that brings me great pleasure and fulfillment.
